The Sun Gate

Hiking at almost 7,000 feet of elevation is no easy task. (Keep in mind that our lovely city of Wausau is only 800 feet above sea level.) As a matter of fact, for certain people, hiking in general, at any elevation, is not the easiest.

That doesn't matter.

Nothing matters, actually.

You hike, and you sweat, and you can't breath. You're sunburned, and it rains, and you trip a couple times. The path gets wet, and it's foggy, and you're running out of time.

But then you are at the top, and nothing else matters.

It doesn't matter what you're wearing or how you look.
It doesn't matter how many friends you have or what your enemies think of you.
It doesn't matter who you are or aren't dating.
It doesn't matter how much money you have or what you spend it on.
It doesn't matter how sad you've been or how lonely you might be.
It doesn't matter where you sleep at night or where you wake up in the morning.
It doesn't matter how much you weigh, or what size pants you wear.
It doesn't matter who's looking at you, or even who's not.

All that counts for anything is the knowledge that you are a visitor. A visitor and a witness. You own nothing in this moment, and carry with you only your heart and soul and the strength that allowed you to make it to the top. And you are a witness to the world. To the world and the great amount of beauty that it possesses, yet most often hides from those who most need to see it.

You know secrets now that most of the people you will return to at 800 ft. will never have even heard of. But you now understand that once you've been to the Sun Gate, you never truly come back down. There is peace, and there is change. And nothing else matters.

I don't know how many people can say this, but i know EXACTLY what you mean. Thanks for sharing that with me. The hike was way better then sitting at the bottom. Even if it did take a little more work. All great things do. Welcome home and enjoy your non-bottled water!

That must have been really incredible! You are very lucky to experience somethinglike that - it doesn't happen often, so always savour the moment!

wow...like you're sooo lucky like I wish I could be you...and like gossip and like be a bitch...did you like all the "likes" kinda sounds like a ditz right? oh kinda like you...oh sorry was that mean? oh kinda like YOU!

Ditz? What? Decent effort, but it wasn't mean. So you don't have to apologize.

yarg, im angry gossip victim who has to work on my vocab skills, blah blah blah...

what a weiner

Anonoymous Bitches. She's not a ditz, and making anyone feel dumb is not cool. Perhaps she puts herself at risk for all this when she gets so personal, but it's still not a sufficient excuse. I don't know why you're trying to make her feel like crap about herself. You point out vague reasons why she's this horrible person, but you're too chicken to go and talk to her about it. So if posting anonymous hate makes you feel good, you need to look inside yourself and think about what kind of person you are. It just seems cowardly to me. Although many people come to her defense when somebody says something cruel, I can't help but notice that escalates the problem. So please, comment on what Allison has to say, but leave your personal opinions about her character off the comment page. Let her use her blog to share things with her friends. Aside from my opinions of her, i just want to see all this caddiness stop. Even if i did dislike her, i would still tell all these anonymous bitches to either get a name, or get their jollies a different way.

Thank you, and i send this as a message to "anonymous bitches" on blogs everywhere.

wow, you ARE an amazing person. not everyone is as good at being passive aggressive as you, way to go ghandi!! some of us try, but i guess our heads will never be shoved up our asses as far as yours. all you talk about is yourself. if you want to change the world, stop making people feel sorry for you. you may not believe it, people can actually tell that you are just a cry for attention. everyone has freaking problems, you aren't the only one! if you have so many problems, why don't you do something about them, stop whining and change the world.
